I chose the Celsetron 44302 Handheld Digital Microscope for this weeks blog as I have young niece who is interested in science, and thought this would be a great gift for the upcoming holiday’s. Though it may not have high end precision optics, they’re not bad and overall, this handheld microscope is pretty cool! You can view specimens or objects on a computer screen and even take snapshot images or short videos. One of my hobbies is coin collecting and I’ve been meaning to photograph them for insurance purposes or just an easy and fun way to view them. The magnifcation range is: 10x, 40x and 150x which would also work for hobbyists who like to collect and view stamps rocks, insects, and gems, just to name a few.
The microscope has a 1.3MP CMOS Digital Camera which is ample for taking videos or still images. It also had an LED Illuminator (6 white LED’s) for viewing slides. It comes with a stand for holding the microscope steady. Computer Requirements – UVC Plug and Play with Windows 7, Vista, and XP and most MAC 10.4.9 and later, CD/DVD Drive and open USB Port.
Aside for being a handy tool, it can also be a lot of fun for any almost any age group. And you probably can’t go wrong giving this as a gift or in my case, I’ll have to get one for myself as well.
